Juju & Jordash are two very talented Deep House producers whose hometurf you'd expect to be Detroit rather than the Netherlands.
Their new 'Time Slip EP' is dropping soon on the british Real Soon label. This will be their second outing on this imprint after the Blue Plates EP. I've been bangin' (if you can call it that with tracks ranging from 101 to 108bpm) both tracks of this upcoming EP during the earlier parts of my sets and each time I hear them, they're sending me somewhere else.
Now they're doing what many more Deep House producers need to do - they've introduced a video for the title track of the EP,
directed and edited by Finnish clip director Gnowp Ants. Find out more about Juju & Jordash on their
website and their
MySpace profile.

{xtypo_dropcap}M{/xtypo_dropcap}any of you frequent visitors of
deepershades.net and avid listeners of my radio show Deeper Shades of House helped me reach yet another magic mark. A few days ago, on October 3rd 2007 to be exact,
the Deeper Shades of House Podcast reached over 100,000 downloads since I started making it available on November 14th 2006. This number is according to my statistics at
feedburner.com (a service that allows keeping track of your podcasts and other RSS feeds) ONLY INCLUDES ACTUAL PODCAST DOWNLOADS. Not counted are the many many downloads directly from the site deepershades.net.
This screenshot above shows the number of downloads as well as the top 5 shows downloaded.
Deeper Shades of House show #185 leads the chart of Item Popularity with 3159 downloads. I know someone blogged about it somewhere :) . . . Followed closely by the
2nd hour of Classic House Special DSoH #200 and so forth. The additional views and clicks in this screenshot show how many people clicked back to the site from the podcast (via Itunes or other podcatchers). Since I redesigned my site those numbers have gone up dramatically and I am sure the possibility to download the guestmixes / 2nd hour of each show is helping as well.
So, if you haven't subscribed to the podcast yet, why don't you
consider taking advantage of having the newest shows downloaded automatically to your computer once I uploaded them to the server.
THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH for enjoying what I do and for spreading the word. I know that a lot of people find their way to this site because music lovers like you told them about Deeper Shades of House. Posted in Videos
{xtypo_dropcap}T{/xtypo_dropcap}his song and its video are mostly responsible for me getting into house music. In Germany and the UK "Jack Your Body" produced by Steve 'Silk' Hurley and originally released in 1986 on the 'DJ International' sublabel 'Underground' from Chicago actually made it in the charts and it was played all over the radio. The European major label which licensed this song put together a video using old jazz dance snippets and some cheap computer animation (back in the days actually pretty fresh). I remember seeing this video on many different TV stations.

To this day I drop this record from time to time and I see faces who know and I see faces who just think 'what's this jam?' As always, more info on the song can be found on
discogs.com
You can also hear two versions of this song in my Deeper Shades of House show #150 Classic House Special - 1st hour. Posted in Videos
Chills.. everytime I hear this song. Make sure you check out the 12" with the Acieed Mix by Steve 'Silk' Hurley. That was the one mostly played in European clubs and that's the one I usually drop when I play this classic jam from 1989. Check out the full release info, credits etc. at
Ten City - That's The Way Love Is - Atlantic Records 1989 {flv}tencity{/flv} please hit me up if you have a better quality version of this video. I gotta pull out my old VHS tapes and hope the sound's a bit more decent that the version above .. either way .. a must have in any House Music DJ's collection...

Mark from NYC sent me the link to this video on YouTube after asking me where he could purchase the song played.
What you hear is
Slope 'Keepingitup (Lars Behrenroth 'Subtle Koffee' Remix) - Sonar Kollektiv which was released on the
Slope Remixed EP in October 2004. You can purchase a mp3 of the song from the Sonar Kollektiv website and online store.
What you see is the Body & Soul party in NYC on July 1st, 2007.
Needless to say, I'm very proud to have my remix played at such a legendary party.

Live version video of this amazing song performed on MTV (Europe is my guess??) by Shaun Escoffery and band. 'Days Like This' is one of the greatest tunes you can hear on a deep house floor when that magical moment is in the air. If you have been to any of the Shelter parties during the recent WMCs you know what I am talking about. A big scream and EVERYONE... starts singing along.
DJ Spinna definitely worked his magic when he remixed it for
Oyster Music in 2001.
Personally, I've become very selective when it comes to picking the right moment to drop this song in a club. It really has to be one of THOSE nights. And when it is, well :) ...read above.
This live version takes the song to another level (if possible). When I saw it on YouTube it put a huge smile on my face. Check out the video of the great performance by Shaun and his band below. Adrian from Oyster Music posted this and many other Shaun Escofferey videos.
This link takes you to his YouTube profile where you can watch the other videos.
I really wish there's a full release of this live version coming sometime soon. Maybe even a whole live album.
Enjoy the video,
lb.

Find out how one of the greatest dance music anthems was created. I came across this video on YouTube and thought I'd share it with you.

A short clip from a film I made with Elliott Eastwick about the music of Detroit and its impact on our home town of Manchester. Here techno pioneer Derrick May tells us how he made the seminal 'Strings of Life'.
