In this new Native Instruments video you can get a deeper insight into Marc "MK" Kinchen's approach to his productions, remixes and DJ sets. Marc uses NI's Maschine to chop up a vocal sample and build a remix, then drags the parts straight into Traktor's Remix Decks.
My order for a NI Maschine is going in shortly, I can tell you that much.

To put the icing on the 10 year anniversary cake of my radio show "Deeper Shades Of House" I just heard about the nomination in the Best Podcast category for the upcoming International Dance Music Awards.
The critically acclaimed awards show, which will take place during the Winter Music Conference in Miami, USA at the end of March, is one of the leading award shows in the Electronic Dance Music scene and after first being nominated in the same category in 2011, this is now my 2nd nomination.
The voting ballot, inviting ALL dance music lovers from anywhere in the world to vote for their favorites, is open until March 1st.
The majority of nominees fall into the commercial side of dance music, so you're not only voting for "Deeper Shades Of House" (Best Podcast category 27) but also for Deep House as a genre you like, considering all other nominated podcasts are either Trance or Commercial House shows.
Please make sure to get your vote counted by clicking the confirmation link in the email you'll receive shortly after voting. Vote >>> www.deepershades.net/idma
I appreciate your support and already say thank you for your vote! Lars Behrenroth
Wow, wow, wow. I just came across this highly inspiring live video by Bulgarian producer KiNK, creating a track pretty much on the fly with a simple but super effective set up. Deeper Shades of House fans know how I feel about KiNK's music and watching this makes my hands sweaty and my heart beat faster. It is another example that as a producer you "just" need to know what tools you're working with, study them inside and out, and you can create amazing tunes.

From the YouTube description:
When I was a kid, I used to create loops on records by sticking tape on the grooves. Recently I found this one and one of the loops inspired me for a live jam. I plugged the turntable into MFB Synth II (the blue box) so I can filter the vinyl. I made a beat with MFB 522 (the red box) and I beatmatched the record to the beats by hand, as the pitch control of this turntable is very limited. In order to get richer sound, I plugged the instruments through a portable Mackie mixer with FMR - RNLA compressor on the inserts and Electro-Harmonix Memory Man with Hazari on the Aux.
As a long time fan I was super excited to see that German DVD magazine "Slices" did a feature on classic producer and house legend Romanthony. Find out about his production ethics, the silence after his collaboration with Daft Punk on "One More Time" and hear a short acoustic version of "The Wanderer".

“When people were going out when I was 20 years old, they were going out to hear this new sound. They wanted to know everything about it,” he says, when I ask how he’s seen things change over the last 20 years. “Today people are maybe not 100 per cent dedicated to it, or some are but the rest are just there to have a good time. And that’s a little bit harder for a guy like me, a weirdo who’s obsessed with this. It’s a criticism of myself, that sometimes I need to be more basic.” DJ Deep interviewed by Tom Banham (2012)
